MENTORING FOR ENTERING THE JOB MARKET
Ready2Work is a mentoring project that supports people with a migration background in entering the labor market in East Belgium. Mentoring means that an experienced person (mentor) supports and guides another person (mentee) as they enter a new working environment. Together, they work to achieve the mentee's career goals.
Access to the labor market is often hampered by structural barriers: a lack of professional networks, unrecognized qualifications, or a lack of knowledge about application procedures. At the same time, many sectors are facing a shortage of skilled workers.
This is where Ready2Work comes in: by specifically connecting mentees with experienced mentors. Through this exchange, Mentees can build confidence, expand their networks, and gain valuable insights into the local labor market, improving their long-term career opportunities.
HOW THE MENTORING WORKS
Over a period of six months, participants (mentees) are paired with volunteer mentors from the professional world. Mentors serve as personal guides, providing support, encouragement, and connections within the local labor market.
Mentoring includes:
- Individual support and advice
- Support with Job applications and launching a career
- Strengthening professional skills and orientation
- Access to local networks and contacts
- Building self-confidence and promoting social participation
Ready2Work is funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and the German-speaking Community of Belgium.
